Chelsea has become a center of the New York art world. The place to be if you’re seeking inspiration and love photography, sculpture, painting and drawing. Remainders of its industrial past have been turned into many, many great art galleries. The landmark ‘Chelsea Hotel’ put up with scores of actors, artists, writers and their entourage throughout the ages, from Mark Twain to Jack Kerouac, Patti Smith and Bob Dylan. Chelsea is known for its social inclusion and has a large LGBT community. You’ll find many ethnic delis, restaurants and boutiques. Otherwise the area is mostly residential with scores of art galleries which are its main attraction. The neighborhood is home to models Doutzen Kroes and Julia Restion Roitfeld and actress Cameron Diaz. Chelsea has its own entrance and exit to the High Line Park.
