NoHo, or NOrth of HOuston Street, is the neighborhood wedged between Greenwich Village, West of Broadway and the East Village. It’s a small neighborhood with mostly loft apartments that are much in demand, and expensive, due to its central location. Though small most its buildings are part of the NoHo Historic District and it’s worth a visit for its architectural diversity. Even the subway stations Astor Place and Bleecker are landmarks. Famous well-to-do families used to live in the area when it was a major commercial and manufacturing hub. Nowadays it houses cultural centers, New York University buildings and some lovely shops, art galleries and restaurants.
