NoLita was part of Little Italy before the 90s. During the 90s the neighborhood developed its own character when hipsters and young urban professionals established here. Currently NoLita, the abbreviation of North of Little Italy, is a tiny and fun neighborhood with some great restaurants, cafes and cute boutiques. You can’t compare it with the tall Midtown Manhattan buildings, all buildings in Nolita are small and therefore seem rather cute. Nolita is a great (and small) neighborhood ideal for walking around in, doing some shopping and having dinner. A great neighborhood for (beautiful) people watching as well. When the weather is nice, you will find a tiny market on Prince Street, between LaFayette and Mott Street. Nice detail: David Bowie, Moby and John Mayer all own apartments in NoLita.
