It all started when the Astor, the Dillon, the Duke and the Pulitzer families moved from Down Town to the mansions on 5th & Park Avenue when Central Park opened in 1900. The area at the right of Central park is the wealthiest neighborhood in New York. ZIP 10065 (from East 60th Street to 69th Street) has the most expensive ZIP in New York. Businessmen like David Rockefeller, Rupert Murdoch and Ronald Perelman have their homes here. The chic elite reside in the Upper East Side, organizing dinner and charity parties. Upper East Side is filled with beautiful town houses, designer boutiques and classy restaurants. Cars with drivers are waiting in front of brownstone houses, children going to private schools in school-uniforms and, on the weekends, kids in Burberry trench-coats and socks in lacquered shoes are a not out of the ordinary. Nobody leaves home without their make-up and hair done! Love art? Then you’ll find yourself in art heaven in the many museums on the edge of Central Park; the Guggenheim and Metropolitan Museum being the most well-known.
